Thousands of years of peaceful coexistence and cohabitation between the Arab Muslims and Arab Christians and Jews were marred by creating the Zionist entity of Israel in 1948 in the heart of Palestine to compensate the European Jews suffered at the hands of the Nazi Germany. The Palestinian Arab Christians/Muslims had no parts in the European Holocaust. For an European problem the Colonial powers made the Middle Eastern Arab Christian/Muslims to pay the price. Ever since the Middle East is in turmoil and Trump administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as the undivided Capital of Israel would perpetuate the conflict and threaten world peace
Ever since 1948 Israel has launched several wars on its neighbors and have blatantly rejected and failed to implement more than 400 UN Resolutions against Israel. Trump Administration rewarding such an aggressor is a threat to world peace and makes United States a collaborator in the Zionist terrorism perpetrated ever since the founding of Israel. Complicity of United States of America in protecting the Zionist Israel at the UN Security Council/General Assembly and other fora are condemnable. Trump Administration’s repositioning abandoning the policies of his predecessors derails the bid by the international community to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This effectively and conspicuously makes the United States of America a party protecting Israeli interest abandoning its role as a peace broker,
This incompetent move by Trump Administration as warned by the international community and the US allies in the region would have dangerous consequences to the peace, security and stability of the region and would have geopolitical ramification in other trouble spots of the world rewarding aggression by regional powers undermining world peace and stability.
National Shoora Council reiterates that Sri Lanka’s principled support for Palestine remains unchanged as successive governments have backed the Palestinian cause, stands committed for a peaceful negotiated durable and permanent two State solution to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
